RESOURCES
Small explanations that make the next conversation easier.
These notes help owners and teams prepare records, understand reports and plan a software change. They offer practical context rather than advice tailored to a particular business. Bring the relevant facts to a direct enquiry before acting on a specific accounting or legal question.
Before you send a box of records
Write down the period, the accounts involved and the gaps you already know about. Keep originals where possible and avoid renaming everything into an untraceable archive. A short list of missing documents can be more useful than a large folder that appears complete but is not.
Before you act on a report
Check the date range, the purpose and whether any figures are provisional. Ask what changed and what evidence explains it. A prepared financial report and an audit opinion are not interchangeable. A verification reference identifies an issue record, not a guarantee about every transaction behind it.
Before you change your software
Agree the workflow, the data to move and the way the starting balances will be checked. Let users practise ordinary tasks and exceptions before the changeover. Decide who will maintain access and answer questions afterwards. A launch date alone is not a plan for using the system well.
Common questions
Can we request a topic?
Yes. Tell us what your team finds confusing. A general note may help, while an individual situation may require a separately agreed service.
