Choose a few useful measures
We discuss what you need to understand: trading performance, overdue customers, upcoming commitments or the cost of a particular activity. The definitions and source records are agreed first. A measure is not useful simply because it looks impressive on a dashboard.
Explain the change
Comparisons can show movements against an earlier period or a budget, where the information is comparable. We separate known reasons from questions needing investigation. If a cost was moved between categories or a period is incomplete, that context belongs beside the figure.
End with a short action list
A monthly discussion can close with the issue, the person responsible and the next review point. The following pack checks what changed rather than repeating the same unresolved note. Management decides the actions; the report helps make those decisions better informed.
