SOFTWARE

A move is only useful when the new records can be explained.

Changing software is an opportunity to improve the routine, but it can also carry old mistakes into a new place. Farwa's migration support defines which records will move and how the result will be checked. Data cleanup and transfer are treated as related but different tasks.

Decide what needs to move

We consider master records, open items, balances and historical detail separately. Some information may belong in an accessible archive rather than the live system. Duplicates, missing fields and unclear balances need decisions before they are transformed or imported.

Try a small, checked transfer

A rehearsal tests the field mapping and selected records. Counts, balances and representative transactions are compared with the source. Exceptions are documented so the final move does not rely on a hopeful assumption that an import-success message means everything is correct.

Plan the changeover and the fallback

The agreed plan covers backups, the final extract, access and the decision to proceed. Users confirm the acceptance checks and know where older information will remain available. A rollback option should be considered before the old working method is retired.

Common questions

Will moving the data fix every old error?

No. Unsupported or incorrect records need separate investigation and approval; a new platform cannot make them true.
